About Euro Pool Group and the role

Euro Pool Group is Europe’s leading provider of reusable packaging and pooling solutions for the fresh-food supply chain, with circularity at the core of its business. From its headquarters in Rijswijk, the Group operates in 38 countries with 215 service centres and more than 1,400 employees. It is cooperatively owned — not listed and not private-equity backed — which gives it a stable, long-term perspective.

The Group Tax Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all VAT, CIT and other tax-related matters within the Group, while also executing operational tax activities across all jurisdictions. You ensure that tax risks are effectively managed and that the Group complies with applicable tax legislation in all countries in which it operates.

You act as the central point of contact for tax matters and support management with expert advice on both indirect and direct tax, while ensuring that tax governance, compliance and reporting are aligned with the Group’s business activities and strategic objectives. You are part of Group Finance and report to the CFO; the role has no management responsibility.

What will you do?

Tax policies & governance

  • Establish and maintain tax policies, guidelines and governance frameworks for the Group, and ensure their consistent application across all Group entities.
  • Monitor relevant tax law developments and assess their impact on the Group.

Tax risk management & control

  • Identify, assess and manage tax risks; maintain and further develop the Group Tax Control Framework.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of tax controls and processes, with hands-on execution of tax controls when required.
  • Escalate material tax risks and issues to senior management when required.
  • Follow and lead the implementation of new legislation and regulations that can be considered additional tax for the business.

Compliance & reporting

  • Coordinate and manage the tax compliance processes (VAT, CIT, TP) in the Group.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of VAT, CIT, TP, Customs and Environmental taxes.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of (new) reporting obligations, taking end-to-end ownership of set-ups such as Country-by-Country Reporting, Pillar II, SAF-T and e-invoicing.

Tax audits & authorities

  • Coordinate tax audits and information requests from tax authorities together with local management.
  • Act as main contact for tax authorities, auditors and external advisors, directly handling audit responses and operational follow-ups.
  • Support the management of tax audits, disputes and rulings, and assess the potential financial and operational impact of audit outcomes.

Transfer pricing

  • Coordinate the Group transfer pricing framework and documentation, and prepare or update TP documentation where required.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and ensure alignment with transfer pricing policies.
  • Support discussions with tax authorities on TP matters and coordinate TP audits together with external tax advisors.

Business support & advisory

  • Provide tax advice to the Group, local entities and business stakeholders.
  • Support and lead the implementation of business initiatives such as new country set-ups, changes in supply chain structures and new business development.
  • Advise management on the tax implications of strategic and operational decisions, and ensure full implementation of resulting tax actions.
  • Advise the business on new (tax) regulations regarding Customs, Environmental taxes, VAT, Wage Tax and more.

Systems & data

  • Support and further develop tax-related (compliance) processes within ERP systems (e.g. SAP).
  • Monitor tax data quality and consistency across the Group, and support automation and continuous improvement of tax processes.
What you bring

You form sound judgements, analyse complex problems down to their origin and deliver work of consistently high quality and integrity. You build relationships inside and outside the organisation, plan effectively and apply tax technology and data to improve compliance, reporting and controls. You also bring:

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Tax Law or Fiscal Economics.
  • 8+ years of experience in an in-house setting and/or a large international tax advisory firm.
  • Extensive international indirect tax experience.
  • Knowledge of tax principles and procedures for CIT, TP, Customs and Environmental taxes.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP-based processes, preferably SAP.
  • Good communication skills in English and Dutch.

Strong pluses

  • Project management skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Pillar II, CbCR, SAF-T or e-invoicing implementations.
  • Affinity with tax technology, automation and data analytics.
What success looks like
  • Accurate and timely compliance.
  • Effective tax risk management.
  • High quality and consistency of tax advice and reporting.
  • Strong audit outcomes and issue resolution.
  • Cost-efficient use of external tax advisory support.

Why Euro Pool Group?

  • The full tax spectrum in one role: VAT, CIT, transfer pricing, Customs, Environmental taxes and new reporting obligations.
  • Direct reporting line to the CFO and a central, visible position within Group Finance.
  • International scope: 38 countries and 215 service centres, with English as the working language.
  • Room to build: further develop the Group Tax Control Framework, TP framework and tax technology.
